YOUTH BIBLE STUDY: BUILD YOUR LIFE ON THE ROCK 🪨
🎬 STEP 1: WATCH THE THEME VIDEO
Watch the “Forward” Theme Video.
As you watch, think about these questions:
- What do you think makes someone’s life meaningful?
- Have you ever felt like you were made for something bigger? What did you look to for belonging or purpose?
- What values guide the decisions you make?
💭 STEP 2: THINK ABOUT YOUR LIFE
Take a few minutes to be honest with yourself.
Have you ever felt unprepared or caught off guard by something that happened?
What happened?
When you don't know what to do, who or what do you usually turn to first?
☐ Friends
☐ Family
☐ Social media
☐ Music
☐ Your own feelings
☐ God
☐ The Bible
☐ Something else
Why do you think you turn there first?
📖 STEP 3: READ GOD'S WORD
Open your Bible or Bible app and read:
Matthew 7:24-29
Jesus tells a story about two builders.
One built his house on rock.
The other built his house on sand.
Both houses faced storms—but only one had a foundation strong enough to stand.
Now answer these questions:
1. What did Jesus say the wise builder did?
2. What made the foolish builder different?
3. Why do you think Jesus compared His words to a solid foundation?
4. What does this passage teach us about the difference between hearing Jesus' words and actually doing what He says?
5. Read Matthew 7:28-29. How did the people respond to Jesus' teaching? What does this tell you about Jesus' authority?
🎬 STEP 4: WATCH THE MAIN VIDEO
Now watch the main lesson video.
As you watch, think about this:
What are some “voices” competing for your attention?
Friends?
Social media?
Culture?
Your emotions?
Music?
Influencers?
Your own thoughts?
Some of those voices may not always be bad—but they aren't always reliable.
Jesus' words are different.
Jesus doesn't change with the latest trend, opinion, or popular idea.
🪨 BUILD DIFFERENTLY
Culture might tell us:
“Do whatever makes you happy.”
“Follow your heart.”
“Do what everyone else is doing.”
But Jesus says:
“Follow Me.”
When we build our lives on Jesus, we don't have to be tossed around by every new opinion, trend, or situation.
SEE: ME
Take a moment to think honestly:
Which voice shapes my choices the most right now—Jesus' voice or the voices around me?
What is ONE area of your life where you need to build more firmly on Jesus?
Maybe it's:
- Friendships
- School
- Family
- Your attitude
- Social media
- Your future
- Your choices
- Your thoughts
- Your faith
What is one thing you can do this week to “build on the rock”?
Write your answer down.
👥 SEE: WE
Think about this:
Our culture can sometimes encourage us to build our lives on things that don't last—popularity, success, appearance, relationships, money, approval, or what other people think.
What happens when those things become our foundation?
Now think about this:
How could living steady and confident in Jesus help someone else see Jesus through you?
❤️ YOUR CHALLENGE THIS WEEK
Every day this week, spend 5 minutes with Jesus.
📖 Read His Word.
🙏 Talk to Him.
💭 Think about what He is teaching you.
👣 Then put it into action.
Don't just hear Jesus' words.
BUILD YOUR LIFE ON THEM.
When life gets shaky, remember:
Jesus is your rock. His words are reliable. You can trust Him.
🙏 PRAY
“Jesus, help me build my life on You and Your Word. When life feels uncertain, help me remember that You are steady and trustworthy. Help me listen to Your voice instead of letting the world control my choices. Give me courage to follow You and live differently. Amen.”
THIS WEEK'S REMINDER:
Build on the Rock.
Trust Jesus' Word.
Follow Jesus.
Live with purpose.
If you worked through this study, take a moment and share one thing God showed you this week.
